Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team withstood a Penn State Behrend comeback attempt late in the game and held on to defeat the Lions by a final score of 61-59 on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.

In the first half, the Mounties came out strong led by their seniors and were ahead 18-9 after Gross hit two free throws with 13:32 remaining in the opening period. Four minutes later, Mount Aloysius led by 15 points with the score at 26-11. The advantage would hover around double digits before the Mounties took a 36-27 lead into the halftime break.
Mount Aloysius maintained its lead throughout the early portion of the second half. The Mounties led 46-39 with 11:17 to go before embarking on a 12-2 run capped by a layup from
Kaleigh Roop to expand their advantage to 58-41 with 7:51 left on the clock. The visiting Lions would rally down the stretch. After Restori hit a jumper to bring the lead back to 11 points with 4:07 to play, the Mounties would go scoreless for the remainder of the game. Behrend cut the deficit to four points with 21 seconds left, and after a Mountie turnover the Lions hit two free throws to make it a 61-59 game with 17 seconds to go. After Behrend fouled, Mount Aloysius missed a free throw and layup off of an offensive rebound, but Behrend's Ally Burke missed two shots in the final seconds as the Mounties hung on for the win.
Rupp scored a team-high 12 points for the Mounties in a balanced effort, and
Abbie Zinobile also finished in double figures with 10 points. Restori scored eight points, recorded five assists and had two steals. Gross scored five points while notching four rebounds and two blocks, and Brosnihan mixed four points, three rebounds and two assists.
The Mounties improve to 10-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play with the win. With two games to go, the Mounties are tied with Franciscan for the sixth and final playoff spot for the AMCC Tournament. The Mounties hold the tiebreaker over the Barons as they have defeated Franciscan twice in the regular season. The two teams also trail Penn State Altoona (8-9 in AMCC) by 1/2 game and Medaille (8-8 in AMCC) by one game in a crowded playoff race.
Mount Aloysius returns to the court on Wednesday with a trip to Pitt-Greensburg at 6 p.m. The Bobcats defeated the Mounties 53-52 on January 19th as they hit a shot at the buzzer to win it.
