Box Score Greensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team couldn't keep up with host Pitt-Greensburg and lost to the Bobcats by a final score of 111-67 on Wednesday evening.
Greensburg raced out to leads of 23-8 and 31-12, and the Bobcats led by 19 points at 39-20 after the Mounties
Nolan Doyle hit two free throws with 6:59 remaining in the half.
Tanner Thomas scored the last basket of the period on a layup with 38 seconds to go, but the visiting Mounties found themselves down 51-28 heading into halftime. The Bobcats maintained a comfortable double-digit advantage throughout the second half on their way to the victory.
Thomas led the Mounties offensively with 27 points while adding nine rebounds. The senior forward is now 14 points shy of the 1,000 point plateau for his career with one regular season game remaining.
Nolan Doyle registered nine points, while
Arin Wade mixed eight points, four rebounds and three assists.
Tre Brown,
Chad Eisenhuth and
Ja'wan Hargraves each had two steals off the bench.
All five Greensburg starters finished in double figures led by Marcus Thomas, who recorded 18 points.
The Mounties struggled from the field offensively as they shot just 28-for-89 (31.5%), including a 2-for-30 showing from behind the three-point arc. Greensburg shot 35-for-63 (55.6%) and 13-for-30 from three-point range. The Bobcats also notched 28 made free throws after Mount Aloysius tried to employ an intentional foul strategy with about 13 minutes remaining in the second half to extend the game.
Mount Aloysius will conclude its regular season on Saturday with a trip to Pitt-Bradford for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
