Tanner Thomas scored the 1000th point of his career on a free throw with 14:30 remaining in the first half, but the Mountie men's basketball team lost to host Pitt-Bradford 84-62 in their season finale on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas began the game on a tear as he scored 13 points in the opening five minutes of play, including three shots from behind the three-point arc. He then went to the foul line, where on his second free throw attempt he notched the 1000th point of his four-year Mountie career. Thomas would go on to finish the game with a game-high 22 points. He concludes his career with 1,007 career points.
Dillon Bender also finished in double figures for the Mounties with 14 points.
Darius Beresford recorded eight points, and
Arin Wade had six points and five rebounds. Senior
Nolan Doyle dished six assists and recorded two steals in the final game of his career.
Despite jumping out to a 19-14 advantage, the Mounties found themselves down 41-30 with 4:26 remaining in the first half. The home side went into intermission with a 48-37 lead, and led by double digits throughout the second half on their way to the victory.
Five Pitt-Bradford players finished in double figures led by Eric Matheson's 15 points.
Mount Aloysius concludes its season with an overall record of 8-17, with a conference record of 6-12. The Mounties missed the sixth seed in playoffs by two games to D'Youville, who finished with a conference record of 8-10.
