Men's Basketball Falls to D'Youville

Box Score
Buffalo, NY - Despite an outstanding effort from senior forward Tanner Thomas, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fell by a final score of 95-83 to host D'Youville College in an AMCC matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas poured in 32 points on 13-for-25 shooting from the field and added 13 rebounds. Joe Dziabo recorded 18 points, six rebounds and five assists off the Mountie bench. Jason Jones scored 11 points off the bench, and Tre Brown added 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The two teams traded the lead early on, and after Dillon Bender drained a three-point shot the sides were even at 18-18 with 6:35 to play in the first half. With D'Youville leading 36-32, Thomas canned a layup on the Mounties final possession to make it a two-point game heading into the half.

The Spartans went on a run to begin the second half and led 47-36 with 17:30 remaining in the game. The Spartans continued to expand their lead and led by as much as 16 points near the midway point of the second half, and the Mounties never reduced the deficit to single digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

With the loss, the Mounties fall into a tie with D'Youville for the sixth spot in the conference standings as both teams currently sit at 6-9 in conference play. Mount Aloysius returns to the court next Saturday with a home matchup against Penn State Behrend set for 3 p.m.
