Women's Basketball Falls to Frostburg

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team was defeated by a score of 78-71 against visiting Frostburg St. on Monday evening in their final non-conference matchup of the season.

Alexis Restori paced the Mounties offensively with 21 points as she shot 5-for-8 from the field and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Haley Bender registered 18 points off the bench as she hit five shots from behind the arc. Abbie Zinobile also finished in double figures with 10 points while adding five blocks. Kara Cordell grabbed seven rebounds, while Bender and Restori each notched six boards on the evening.

Mount Aloysius fell behind 42-29 at halftime as the Bobcats Ronje James scored 20 points in the opening half. The game was tied 24-24 with 5:16 remaining in the half before the visitors went on an 18-5 run to close the period. Frostburg increased its lead to as much as 20 points in the second half before the Mounties cut the advantage to single digits on a Restori layup with 6:55 left on the clock. Restori cut the lead to five points at 71-66 with 2:25 remaining but the Mounties couldn't complete the comeback.

James led Frostburg with 25 points, five assists and four steals. Jasmine Walker added 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Mounties outrebounded the vistors by a margin of 46-32, but lost the turnover battle 25 to 14.

Mount Aloysius returns to the court on Saturday with an important conference contest against Penn State Behrend at home at 1 p.m.
