Cresson, PA - Benjamin Legath threw five innings of two-hit baseball to lead Mount Aloysius to a 2-0 game two victory in a doubleheader versus visiting Juniata College on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles won game one 9-8 in extra innings.

Legath allowed just two hits against the 17 batters he faced in his five innings on the hill. He struck out six as he registered his first win of the season.

Offensively, the Mounties scored a run in the bottom of the third as Legath drew a walk with the bases loaded to score TJ Wardwell. An inning later, Mont Aloysius made it 2-0 as Kirk Davis scored off of a fielder's choice. Legath and the Mountie bullpen of Rodney Patterson and Cameron Kyle then closed out the ballgame. Kyle pitched a scoreless seventh as he struck out two while recording his third save of the season.

Connor Bowie was the only Mountie to record more than one hit in game two. Bowie finished 2-for-2 at the plate with one walk.

Game one was a high-scoring affair in which the Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead after their first two at-bats. After scoring one run in the bottom of the second on a Cory Dick RBI double, the Mounties came out firing in the third inning as the home side scored six runs to take a 7-5 advantage. Connor Bowie started things off with a double that scored two, and Legath followed with an RBI double that brought in Bowie. Kyle Droz then brought in Legath with a single before Jesse Bortner capped the rally with a double that plated Davis and Droz.

Juniata responded with two runs in the fourth and one run in the top of the sixth to regain the lead at 8-7. The Mounties were down to their last out in the seventh when Patrick Gully singled home Davis to tie the ballgame at 8-8. Once again, the Eagles took the lead as the visitors notched a run in the top of the eighth. Mount Aloysius had runners on second and third with two outs in the bottom of the inning, but Davis grounded out to third base to end the game.

Davis and Legath each finished game one with two hits and two runs scored. Brady Wright was handed his first loss of the season in relief.

Mount Aloysius now stands at 15-13 overall and will have a few days off before returning to the field on Saturday with a doubleheader at D'Youville College that will start at 1 p.m.
