Baseball Drops Two to #2 Frostburg State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Frostburg, MD - The Mount Aloysius baseball team dropped their final regular season games of the season by scores of 13-1 and 15-1 to Frostburg State University on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Mounties, who rested nearly their entire starting lineup against the #2 team in the nation due to the upcoming AMCC playoffs, were tied 1-1 after two and a half innings in game one. Dalton Garlock scored on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning to even things up before the Bobcats exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the inning to seize control. Frostburg added one run apiece in their next two at-bats to create the 13-1 advantage and final scoreline.

Nicholas DiDiano went 2-for-3 at the plate in his first plate appearances of the season in game one. Bryan Buzi, Jesse Bortner, Joshua Bracken, Anthony Rocco and Jared Elliot added one hit apiece.

Garlock sparked the Mounties to begin game two as he stole third and scored off of a throwing error to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead in the first inning. However, the Bobcats would gradually take over in game two as the home side scored four runs in the first followed by two runs in their next three-at bats.

Garlock and Elliot produced the only two hits for the Mounties in game two. Tristan Gelvin threw a scoreless inning in the sixth inning for Mount Aloysius.

Mount Aloysius falls to 20-18 overall on the season. The Mounties will now turn their attention to the AMCC playoffs as they will host Medaille in a best-of-three series starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Each game will be seven innings. The Mounties split with the Mavericks in the regular season on April 12th, winning 12-8 in game one before falling 10-4 in game two.
