Box Score 4 Elmira, NY - The Lady Mounties volleyball team played a quad match this past weekend at Elmira College.
In their first match on Friday, September 11
th, the Lady Mounties took on Wells College. The match went into five sets with the Mounties coming out on top with a 3-2 victory. Outside hitter
Lindsey Mercer sparked the Mounties offense with 15 kills. Middle hitters
Elizabeth Yacobucci also came up big with 12 kills and
Megan Ruddock added 11 kills.
Jordan DeMasi dished out 21 assists and
Jessica Bressler added 18.

Brenna Wright broke a Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball record of most digs in a match. Wright finished the match with 34 total digs which put her above the previous record of 31.
The Lady Mounties came out strong and beat Morrisville State 3-1 immediately following their win against Wells College. Mercer tied her career high of kills per match with 18 kills. Yacobucci dominated the net with 11 kills and five blocks. Wright paced the defense with 27 digs and defensive specialist
Alyssa Walters added 24 digs.
On Saturday, September 12
th, the Lady Mounties took on the host team, Elmira College. The match went back and forth until the deciding final set where Elmira took the early lead and came up with the 3-2 win. The offense was paced by Yacobucci with 12 kills, Mercer with 10, and Ruddock with nine. DeMasi led with 17 assists and Wright came up with 16 digs.
The last match on Saturday the Lady Mounties took on Alfred State. The Pioneers came out and took sets one and two but they Lady Mounties battled back to win the third. The Lady Mounties had a slow start in the fourth set and lost the match 3-1. Ruddock controlled the net with seven kills and three blocks. Yacobucci ended with eight kills and two aces. Bressler dished out 14 assists and DeMasi 11. Walters led the defense with 10 digs.
The Lady Mounties played some tough opponents and split the weekend by going 2-2 overall. Their next match will be at Eastern Mennonite University on Tuesday, September 15
th at 7 p.m.Â
