Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team defeated Penn State Behrend by a final score of 60-52 on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action on the Mounties home floor.
Breana Kendrick had a terrific all-around game for the Mounties offensively off the bench with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds.
Abby Kulick registered a double-double performance with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and
Alexia Servello scored 11 points while dishing three assists.
Abbie Zinobile had seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Mount Aloysius, near the top of most defensive statistical categories in the AMCC, held the visiting Lions to a 18-for-76 (23.7 percent) shooting performance from the field and forced 13 turnovers.
The two sides remained close throughout as the Mounties led 12-10 after one quarter and 22-20 at halftime. Leading 24-23, the Mounties went on a 7-0 run towards the end of the third quarter to take a 31-23 advantage and headed into the final quarter ahead by seven points at 38-31 after
Kara Cordell hit a jumper with 41 seconds remaining. Mount Aloysius expanded the advantage to 46-34 on a Servello jump shot with 8:03 left in the ballgame, but the visiting Lions charged back with a 11-0 run over the next four minutes before a
Hannah Drenning layup gave the home side a 48-45 lead with three minutes to go. Ahead 51-46, Kulick hit a big shot with 1:12 left and the Mounties hit their free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
With the victory, Mount Aloysius improves to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in AMCC play. The Mounties return to the court on Monday with a road game at 8 p.m. against Pitt-Greensburg.
