Women's Basketball Defeated by Pitt-Greensburg

Greensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fought back in the final minutes before falling to Pitt-Greensburg by a final score of 65-58 on Monday evening on the road in AMCC action.

Down 61-58 in the final minute after a quick 6-0 run, Alexia Servello swiped for a steal and the Mounties went racing the other way. However, Katie Bracken couldn't convert on a layup in transition and the Bobcats scored on the other end to clinch the ballgame. 

After Pitt-Greensburg took a 15-13 lead after one quarter, the home team expanded their advantage to as much as 11 points in the second quarter before taking a 35-27 lead into the half. The Mounties cut the deficit to four points at 39-35 on a basket from Breana Kendrick with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter. Mount Aloysius stayed within striking distance as the Bobcats led 49-42 after three quarters of play. After Greensburg appeared to regain control early in the fourth with a 55-44 lead just over a minute into the period, the Mounties chipped away to cut the deficit to five points on a jumper from Kara Cordell with 5:25 on the clock. 

The Mounties went down 61-52 with 2:24 remaining before buckets from Antwayne' Parks and Kendrick along with two free throws from Alexia Servello cut the deficit to three and set up the game's final sequence.

Kendrick once again led the Mounties with 16 points for the second consecutive game and has now scored in double figures in three straight games. Servello scored 13 points and Bracken recorded 10 points off the bench. Parks mixed six points with seven rebounds.

The Mounties fall to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play and return to action Thursday evening with a home contest against Franciscan at 8 p.m.
