Women's Basketball Races Past Franciscan

Box Score
Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team recorded their largest victory of the season with a dominating 74-34 victory over visiting Franciscan University on Thursday evening in conference action.

Mount Aloysius held Franciscan to 12-for-54 (22.2 percent) shooting from the floor and forced 16 Baron turnovers for the ballgame.

The Mounties were led by Alexia Servello on the offensive end, as the point guard scored 18 points and dished three assists. Breana Kendrick scored 12 points and swiped three steals, and Abby Kulick notched a double-double performance with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The inside combination of Abbie Zinobile (six points, seven rebounds, four blocks), Antwayne' Parks (eight points, eight boards) and Kaleigh Roop (five points, 10 rebounds) was also dominant and helped give the Mounties a 56-33 advantage in the rebounding department.

The Mounties led 15-9 after one quarter and expanded their advantage to 40-20 at halftime. The lead stayed around 20 points for much of the third quarter, and Mount Aloysius continued its stingy defense as they allowed just one Franciscan basket in the final 10 minutes of play. Servello hit a jumper with 4:21 to play to expand the lead to 30 points at 64-34, and the advantage stretched as high as 40 with less than a minute left on a Katie Bracken layup.

Mount Aloysius improves to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in AMCC play. The Mounties will host Hilbert on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
