Youngwood, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team received goals from six different players in a 7-3 victory over host Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday afternoon in AMCC action.
The Mounties came out firing on the offensive end and dominated possession early on against the Bobcats. In the 15th minute, the Mounties were rewarded as
Jalen Terry got on the end of a
Jim Smith free kick and poked it past the Greensburg keeper to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors. In the 27th minute,
Joshua Devlin got free on a cross from
Graham Hunter and slotted in the Mount's second goal. Less than two minutes later, Hunter made it 3-0 after he tapped in a goal off of a beautiful cross from
Michael Clendenin. Mount Aloysius continued to put the pressure on and made it 4-0 before halftime after
Quoiquoi Gayflor beat two defenders at the top of the box and blasted a shot into the lower corner with just under ten minutes remaining in the opening period of play.
Mount Aloysius increased the lead to 5-0 ten minutes into the second half when
Alex Duthie deflected in a shot, and it appeared Mount Aloysius had the game in hand before the Bobcats rallied for three goals in the game's final 20 minutes. However, the Mounties struck for two goals in quick succession with less than two minutes remaining as
Thomas Sloan fired in a shot from the top of the box, and 20 seconds later Devlin knocked in his second goal after a nice hustle play from Duthie.
The Mounties outshot the Bobcats 28-14. Goalkeeper
Kyle Lachance made six saves while improving to 9-5-1 in net.
Mount Aloysius improves to 9-6-1 overall and 3-4 in AMCC play. The Mounties will host Pitt-Bradford on Saturday at 3 p.m. and will honor their senior class prior to the contest.
