Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team was defeated by a final score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon by visiting Penn State Behrend in AMCC action.
The Mounties had the first chance of the game when just over a minute in
Thomas Sloan struck a shot at the top of the 18, but the Behrend keeper was able to push it out of bounds. The visiting Lions struck for a goal in the 11th minute off of a loose ball in the box. Mount Aloysius nearly answered but a shot from inside the box minutes later was saved off the line by a Lions defender.
Neither team would find the scoreboard for the remainder of the half, and the game stayed 1-0 until Behrend scored in the 60th minute. Mount Aloysius had a number of chances down the stretch.
Ricky Abbs broke through on goal but had his attempted shot blocked away, and
Jim Smith was just wide on a free kick attempt from 25 yards out.
Sloan recorded two shots to lead the Mounties offensively, while goalkeeper
Kyle Lachance made eight saves.
The Mounties drop to 6-4-1 overall and 0-2 in AMCC play. They will return to the field Thursday for a 4 p.m. kickoff against Penn State Altoona.
