Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team dropped a 6-2 decision to La Roche on Tuesday afternoon in their final regular season game of the season. The game was played at Penn State Altoona due to poor field conditions on the Mounties home field.
The Mounties fell behind 2-0 at halftime, and the visiting Redhawks scored an early second-half goal to increase their lead to 3-0.
Thomas Sloan drew a handball in the box and converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 66th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1. La Roche responded after a Mountie defensive miscue on the next play to bring their lead back to three goals before Sloan drew another foul in the box and converted his second goal on a penalty kick at the 72:48 mark. With the scoreline at 4-2, the Redhawks found the back of the net twice more down the stretch to secure the victory.Â
With the loss, the Mounties conclude their regular season with an overall record of 10-7-1. Mount Aloysius will be the #6 seed for the AMCC Tournament and will travel to #3 seed Penn State Altoona on Saturday. The time of the game is yet to be announced.
