Men's Soccer Falls in AMCC Playoffs

Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team fell by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon against host Penn State Altoona in the opening round of the AMCC playoffs.

In the 13th minute of play, Thomas Sloan swiped a ball off of an Altoona defender and drove a shot into the bottom corner of the net to give the Mounties an early 1-0 advantage. The two teams traded chances throughout the middle portion of the half. With less than nine minutes remaining in the opening session, Altoona scored off of a corner kick attempt to even the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.

Both teams continued to trade chances until the Lions took a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute of play. The Mounties had a number of opportunities down the stretch through the play of Sloan and Graham Hunter but ultimately couldn't capitalize. 

Sloan and Hunter led the Mounties offensively with four shots each. Jim Smith added two shots, and James Eyre stopped eight shots in net. 

The Mounties conclude their season with an overall record of 10-8-1. The Mount Aloysius senior class concludes their careers with 40 career wins, four AMCC playoff appearances as well as the 2015 AMCC Regular Season and Postseason Championship.
