Columbus, OH - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team lost a non-conference contest by a final score of 69-59 on Saturday afternoon on the road against Capital University.
The Mounties placed three players in double figures led by 14 points from
Jessa Wright. Wright shot 4-for-9 from three-point range and added two steals on the defensive end.
Antwanye' Parks contributed 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and
Abby Kulick registered 10 points off the bench.
Capital led early by an 11-4 margin and held a 20-14 advantage before the Mounties closed the quarter with a quick 5-1 run capped by a three-point shot from Wright to make it 21-19 in favor of the home side after one quarter. Mount Aloysius took a 23-21 lead on a jumper from Parks with 8:48 remaining in the second quarter. With the game tied 29-29 halfway through the quarter, the Crusaders finished the half with a 12-4 run to take a 41-33 advantage into halftime.
The Crusaders increased their lead to 14 points with 3:31 remaining in the third quarter, and the Mounties cut it to nine on a Parks shot from behind the arc to make it a 54-45 game after three. After Capital brought its lead back to double digits, Mount Aloysius decreased the advantage to eight points with 2:42 to go on a
Alexia Servello three-point shot. However, the Mounties couldn't get any closer in the game's final possessions.
The Mounties fall to 1-3 overall and will return to the court Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Carnegie Mellon University.
