Pittsburgh, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team was defeated by a final score of 108-71 on Wednesday evening in non-conference action against host Carnegie Mellon, who were recently ranked No. 18 in the nation.
The Tartans were hot offensively throughout the game as they shot 42-for-69 (60.9 percent) from the field on the evening. The home side held a 25-17 advantage after one quarter and built their lead over the Mounties to 51-33 at the halftime break before gradually building their advantage throughout the second half on their way to the win.
Three Mounties finished in double figures offensively as
Abby Kulick paced the team with 16 points off the bench.
Lea Sammarco scored 11 points and registered five rebounds, while
Alexia Servello ended the contest with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Both teams were strong from the free throw line as the Mounties finished 19-for-23 (82.6 percent) and the Tartans ended the game 16-for-19 (84.2 percent).
Mount Aloysius returns to the court on Saturday for their conference opener at 1 p.m. at home against D'Youville.
