Men's Basketball Falls Despite Strong First Half

Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team trailed host Penn State Behrend by just one point at halftime, but the Lions used a second-half surge to earn a 76-63 victory on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action. 

The Mounties trailed 37-36 at halftime and were down 47-45 after Darryl Sanders hit a jumper with 15:09 remaining in the ballgame. Behrend then used a crucial 13-4 run to take a 60-49 advantage with 9:29 to go. Mount Aloysius cut the lead to seven at 66-59 after David Swatsworth hit a layup plus a free throw with 4:23 remaining, but wouldn't get any closer as the Lions took the win.

Sanders paced the Mounties offensively with 18 points. Jourdan Lamberth scored 14 points off the bench while adding five rebounds, and Tre Brown registered 12 points and five boards for Mount Aloysius.

The Mounties will return to the court on Wednesday evening when they will host Grove City in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
