Mounties Fall to Chatham

Cresson, PA - In their final non-conference contest of the season, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell by a final score of 73-57 on Saturday afternoon against visiting Chatham University.

After falling behind 7-2 in the opening minutes, the Mounties came back to tie the game at 11-11 with 2:08 remaining in the opening quarter on two free throws from Kara Cordell. With the game tied at 14-14, Mount Aloysius scored the final five points of the quarter to lead 19-14 after one. Mount Aloysius stretched the lead to eight with 9:28 to go in the second quarter after a Lea Sammarco three-point shot, but Chatham chipped away and went on to tie the game at 33-33 with just over two minutes left in the half. The Cougars then scored the half's final points on a shot from behind the arc to take a 36-33 edge into halftime.

The Cougars continued to hold a slight lead throughout the third quarter. With Chatham ahead 46-44, the visitors scored the final seven points of the third quarter to take a 53-44 advantage into the final session. Chatham increased its lead to double-digits and the Mounties didn't get closer than seven points in the final quarter.

Alexia Servello scored 15 points and dished five assists to lead the Mounties offensively. Jessa Wright added 12 points and six rebounds, and Sammarco scored nine points to go with seven rebounds off the bench.
 
The Mounties drop to 4-7 overall and will return to the court on Wednesday with a home AMCC matchup against La Roche.
