Box Score Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team was defeated by a final score of 87-76 on Saturday afternoon by first-place Penn State Behrend on the road in AMCC action.
Behrend dominated play early on as the Lions jumped out to a 15-0 lead over the Mounties in the first four minutes of the game. Behrend led 20-3 before the Mounties gradually started to chip away at the lead. Mount Aloysius cut the deficit to single digits at 25-16 with 10:20 to play in the half. With the home team holding a 43-32 advantage with under two minutes to play in the period, the Mounties went on a quick 7-1 run capped by two free throws from
Tyler Crenshaw with one second left on the clock to cut the lead to 44-39 at the break.
With 16:15 to go in the second half, Mount Aloysius got the deficit down to three points at 50-47 following a
Chad Eisenhuth three-point shot. However, the Lions quickly regained control to push their lead back to double digits. Down by 20 points with 8:56 remaining, the Mounties continued to fight and cut the gap to eight points twice down the stretch but couldn't complete the comeback.
Dillon Bender was the only Mountie in double figures with 14 points. Eisenhuth finished with nine points, while
Shaire Tolson-Ford and
Arin Wade each had eight points.
Darryl Sanders,
Jourdan Lamberth and
Troy Williams each registered seven points off the bench. Sanders added five assists.
Mount Aloysius falls to 6-17 overall and 3-13 in conference play. The Mounties return to the court Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at home against Pitt-Greensburg.
