Box Score Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team suffered through a cold-shooting second half on their way to a 67-50 defeat against Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon in AMCC competition.
The Mounties, who scored 33 points on 12-for-27 shooting in the opening half, shot 6-for-32 in the second half and scored 17 points after halftime.
Despite some third-quarter struggles in the shooting department, Mount Aloysius was down by just three points at 45-42 after three quarters of play. However, Behrend pulled away for the victory by scoring the first 11 points of the final period to expand their advantage to 56-42, and the Mounties wouldn't get the deficit back under double digits the rest of the way.
Alexia Servello was the only Mountie to finish in double figures with 13 points to go along with a team-high three assists.
Kara Cordell nearly registered a double-double effort with eight points and 11 rebounds, and
Abbie Zinobile recorded seven points and four boards.
The Mounties fall to 7-9 in conference play and 10-13 overall. They are now one game ahead of Hilbert and Franciscan for the final AMCC playoff spot with two games remaining on the schedule. The Mounties will return to the court on Wednesday evening at home against Pitt-Greensburg at 8 p.m.
