Mounties Clinch Playoff Berth With Win over UPG

Cresson, PA - Led by a strong overall performance from freshman Breana Kendrick, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team clinched an AMCC playoff berth with a 69-63 victory over Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday evening.

Kendrick scored 23 points and added 10 rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Alexia Servello also finished in double figures with 10 points and four assists, and Hannah Drenning hit a trio of three-point shots off the bench to register nine points along with three assists.

Both teams shared the ball well as the Mounties recorded 15 assists on 23 baskets, while the Bobcats had 12 assists on 19 made shots.

The game was a tight, back-and-forth affair throughout as neither side could break away with a big lead. The Mounties led by a slim 32-30 advantage at halftime and kept a 52-51 lead heading into the final quarter. With the Mounties leading 65-62 as the game came to a close, Drenning hit a huge three-point shot with 25 seconds to go to clinch the ballgame.

The Mounties are now 8-9 in conference play and are in a three-way tie for fourth place with D'Youville and Pitt-Greensburg heading into the final game of the season. Mount Aloysius will host Pitt-Braford on Saturday in their regular season finale at 3 p.m. Senior Kaleigh Roop will be honored prior to Saturday's contest as part of Senior Day.
