Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team had one of their best offensive performances of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Mounties defeated Pitt-Bradford by a final score of 84-73 in their regular season finale at home.
The Mounties enter the AMCC Tournament as the #5 seed with the victory and will travel to #4 D'Youville on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. tipoff, with the winner advancing to play #1 La Roche on Saturday in an AMCC semifinal matchup.
Mount Aloysius will enter the tournament on a high note as the Mounties topped UPB, which entered Saturday's game with a 12-5 conference record.Â
After a 19-17 first quarter in favor of the Mounties, Mount Aloysius went on a 13-0 run to start the second quarter to take a 32-17 advantage after
Alexia Servello hit a jumper with 6:34 remaining in the period. The Mounties continued to execute well on both ends of the floor, and a three-point shot from
Antwayne' Parks increased the lead to 42-21 with 2:38 to go. Mount Aloysius took a 45-25 advantage into halftime.Â
The Mounties continued to hold a large double-digit lead through the third quarter before the Panthers made a comeback attempt in the fourth. The visitors went on a 9-0 run to start the final quarter, which cut the gap to 65-57 with 8:12 left in the ballgame. The lead would dwindle down to four points before Servello hit a big three-point shot and
Katie Bracken followed with a layup plus a free throw to expand the lead back to 71-61 as the Mounties held on for the victory.
Parks scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and
Breana Kendrick also notched 18 points.
Kara Cordell had a double-double effort with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Servello registered 14 points and a game-high six assists, while
Hannah Drenning scored 11 points off the bench. The Mounties once again shared the ball extremely well on the offensive end with 21 assists on 26 made field goals.
Ali Rinfrette poured in 35 points and recorded 11 rebounds for Pitt-Bradford.
Prior to the game, the Mounties honored senior
Kaleigh Roop for her contributions to the program in her final home game. Roop scored four points and hustled for five rebounds in 13 minutes of action.Â
