Men's Basketball Defeated by D'Youville

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team took a tough 91-83 loss to visiting D'Youville on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.

The two sides stayed fairly close on the scoreboard throughout the first half. The Mounties took a six-point advantage at 20-14 when Chad Eisenhuth hit a three-point shot with 10:37 to play in the half. Mount Aloysius again took a six-point lead at the 6:52 mark on a layup from Dillon Bender, but D'Youville responded with the next seven points and went on to take a 43-42 lead into the break.

Mount Aloysius came out strong in the second half of play, and the Mounties took a 67-59 lead with 11:31 to go on another shot from behind the arc courtesy of Eisenhuth. The Spartans once again responded with a 8-0 run to tie the game at 67-67 with nine minutes remaining. The teams were tied again at 79-79 with just over four minutes to go before a decisive 9-0 run from the visitors sealed the ballgame.

Bender led the Mounties with 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting, including a 5-for-11 showing from behind the arc. Eisenhuth contributed 15 points as he hit five three-point shots for the game while adding seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. Arin Wade registered 15 points, and Tre Brown dished seven assists. Drew Knowles had a strong game off the bench with 10 points and four boards.

The Mounties were hurt by 19 turnovers compared to 12 for the Spartans, and D'Youville held a 41-33 advantage on the glass.

Mount Aloysius falls to 6-16 overall and 3-12 in conference play. The Mounties return to the court next Saturday at Penn State Behrend at 2 p.m.
