Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius baseball team registered a doubleheader split with host Penn State Altoona on Tuesday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Stadium. The Mounties lost game one 5-4 before bouncing back in convincing fashion with a 15-6 victory in game two.

In game one, the Mounties Benjamin Legath ripped an RBI double to right field in the top of the first that drove in Connor Bowie to give Mount Aloysius an early 1-0 advantage. The 1-0 lead would stand behind the pitching of Daniel Resavy until Altoona scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Mounties responded in their next at-bat with three runs. With the bases loaded, Kyle Droz came home on a wild pitch. Jordan Campano then scored off of a Lion error before Ian Helsel crossed the plate on a Bowie RBI groundout to make it 4-2 in favor of the visitors.

The 4-2 lead remained until Altoona put two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, Altoona's Gavin Roselli hit a home run to erase the deficit and give the home team a 5-4 advantage. The Mounties couldn't get anything going in their final at-bat as Altoona escaped with the win.

After falling behind 1-0 in game two, Mount Aloysius got going offensively in the third inning and ended up scoring all 15 of their runs over their next four at-bats. Bryn Brown (single) and Bowie (triple) each recorded two RBIs on hits in the fourth inning before Matthew McCourt clubbed a two-run home run in the fifth. Mount Aloysius then struck for eight runs in the visiting sixth. The highlights included a distance two-run home run from Legath, a two-run double from Droz and another big hit from Legath as he powered a double down the left field line to bring in two more runners later in the inning.

Andrew Shreiner was solid on the hill for the Mounties in game two as he allowed two earned runs through 5 and 2/3 innings. Ryan McElwee (1 and 1/3 innings) and Brady Ring (2 innings) then closed out the ballgame.

Legath went 3-for-5 with four RBI's in game two to finish the day with five hits and five RBI's. Bowie had a 4-for-5 showing in game two with three RBI's and two runs scored. Dylan Oswalt went 3-for-6 with three runs scored, and Brown had two hits, two runs scored and three RBI's.

The Mounties now stand at fourth place in the AMCC with a 5-5 record and are 16-14 overall. They will return to their home field tomorrow with a doubleheader against non-conference opponent Hood College that is set to begin at 1 p.m.
