Cresson, PA - After defeating Hilbert by a final score of 4-2 in game one of a best-of-three AMCC first round playoff series, the Mount Aloysius baseball team won game two in dramatic fashion with a three-run comeback in the bottom of the ninth capped by a walkoff RBI single from Dylan Oswalt. The 6-5 game two victory gave the Mounties the sweep and advanced the team to the AMCC Final Four starting on Thursday.

The game one win featured a strong pitching performance from Mountie Daniel Resavy. Resavy threw a complete game allowing nine hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Resavy forced two double play groundouts in the final two innings to help seal the victory.

The Mounties fell into a 2-0 hole in game one and trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth. Jordan Campano got the Mounties started in the inning with a one-out single. Ian Helsel then reached on an error, and with two runners on base Bryn Brown also reached on a Hilbert error that scored both Campano and Helsel to make it 3-2 in favor of the Mounties. In their next at-bat, Matthew McCourt provided an insurance run with an RBI single that scored Chase Miller.

Hilbert scored first in game two before the Mounties responded in the bottom of the third. Benjamin Legath hit an RBI single that brought in Brown, and Connor Bowie stole home later in the inning to give Mount Aloysius the lead. However, the Hawks scored three runs of their own in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 advantage. The Mounties trailed by the same 5-3 scoreline heading into their final at-bat.

With one runner on and two outs in the ninth, Bowie came up clutch with a triple that scored Ian Helsel to make it 5-4. Legath followed with another RBI single to bring in Bowie to tie the game. After Legath stole second, Oswalt delivered the walkoff hit with a single that scored Legath to end the series with a two-game sweep.

Helsel went 4-for-5 in game two, while Brown, Bowie, Legath and Miller added two hits each. Luke Stultz earned the game two win with two scoreless innings of relief.

The Mounties will play #1 seed La Roche on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the AMCC Final Four. The winner will advance to play the winner of Penn State Behrend vs. Pitt-Greensburg, while the loser will move on to an elimination game against the loser of Behrend and Greensburg.
