Aubrey Brown scored goals in the 79th and 81st minute to lead the Mount Aloysius men's soccer team past visiting Juniata by a final score of 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the score tied at 2-2 after the Eagles equalized in the 63rd minute, Brown buried the eventual game winner off of a quick pass from
Thomas Sloan in the box. Just under two minutes later, he gave the Mounties some breathing room with a goal after
Jalen Terry flicked a header to Brown's foot before he slotted his second goal away. The goals were the first and second of the season for Brown.
Mount Aloysius scored early to begin the game. Three minutes into action, Sloan hit
Michael Clendenin on a through ball. After taking a touch Clendenin blasted a shot into the top corner to hand the Mounties an early lead. The Eagles responded in the 25th minute on a goal off of a nice individual play from Jarrod Gibson. Neither side could find another goal as the two teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Mounties took the lead in the 58th minute when Sloan got on the end of a
Jim Smith free kick and registered his fifth goal of the season. Juniata would tie things up again five minutes later before Mount Aloysius responded in the game's final stretch.
Mount Aloysius outshot Juniata 25-7 and recorded a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Brown finished with five shots for his two goals, and Sloan ended the game with a goal and two assists. In goal,
Kyle Lachance improved to 4-1-1 on the season while stopping three Juniata shots.
The Mounties improve to 4-2-1 overall and will return to the field tomorrow against Wilson College on the road at 4 p.m.
