Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team dropped their conference opener to host Medaille by a final score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The host Mavericks started out strong and scored in the 8th minute off of a breakway.
Kyle Marshall had a chance to tie the game off a rebound attempt minutes later, but his shot sailed wide. Medaille increased the advantage to 2-0 in the 34th minute, and despite a few Mountie chances at goal towards the end of the half the visitors were down by two heading into the break.
Mount Aloysius created a number of scoring opportunities throughout the second half.
Aubrey Brown and
Kevin Ouellette each had header attempts go just over the bar in the early stages of the half. On two other occasions, the Mavericks were forced to clear Mountie shots off the goal line as they held on to their lead. Medaille created the final scoreline on a counterattacking goal with less than five minutes to go in the game.

Kyle Lachance made nine saves for the Mounties.
The Mounties fall to 5-3-1 overall and return to the field on Tuesday when they will host Bethany for a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
