Men's Soccer Wins Close Contest with Bethany

Box Score
Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team took a hard fought 3-2 victory over visiting Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Kevin Ouellette got the Mounties started on a high note when he headed in a cross from Samuel Saie in the 2nd minute of the contest to give Mount Aloysius an early 1-0 lead. The two sides would go back-and-forth with chances until Bethany found the game's equalizer in the 19th minute. Both teams had scoring opportunties throughout the remainder of the first half. Thomas Sloan grazed a shot attempt off the top of the crossbar for the Mounties, while the Bison had one of their own shots hit off the crossbar before going out of bounds.

After the sides entered halftime deadlocked at 1-1, Aubrey Brown helped the Mounties regain the lead in the 53rd minute. Brown got behind the defense off of a bouncing ball and slotted a shot past the charging keeper to make it 2-1 in favor of the home side. Just over 10 minutes later, Brown scored again off of a feed from Kyle Marshall to create a 3-1 scoreline.

The Bison cut the lead in half in the 80th minute off of a free kick attempt that was deflected in. Mount Aloysius held strong in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory.

Sloan led the Mountie attack with four shots, while goalkeeper Kyle Lachance improved to 6-2-1 on the season while making seven saves.

The Mounties improve to 6-3-1 overall and will return to action Sunday with an AMCC contest against Penn State Behrend. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. following the women's game against Behrend.
