Mountie Tennis Splits Weekend Matches


Ebensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's tennis team opened up its season over the weekend as the Mounties split a pair of matches at home at the Ebensburg Tennis Center. The Mounties defeated Thiel by a final score of 8-1 on Friday before falling to Lycoming by a final margin of 6-3 on Saturday. 

Against Thiel, the Mounties swept doubles play at the duo of Emily Goldyn and Joselyn Walters won 8-5 at #1 doubles before Ericka Klavuhn and Katelynn Arnold registed a 8-1 victory at #2 doubles. Mackenzie Roush and Kaitlin Altiero then completed the doubles sweep with a 8-3 victory.

Mount Aloysius then won five of six singles matches to record the team victory. Goldyn won 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles, and Walters notched a 6-1, 7-6 victory at #2 singles. Klavuhn was victorious by a 6-0, 6-1 scoreline, and Arnold and Roush completed the Mountie wins with identical 6-1, 6-1 scorelines.

On Saturday, the Mounties were defeated by Lycoming despite doubles wins for Goldyn-Walters (8-4 win) and Klavuhn-Arnold (8-1 win). Roush registered the Mounties final win in singles play with a tiebreaking victory.

The Mounties return to the courts on Thursday with a match against Penn State Altoona.
