Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team had a shot to tie the game at the buzzer, but
Tre Brown's three-point attempt didn't fall as the host D'Youville Spartans came away with a 83-80 victory on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.
After a 17-2 run over a five-minute span, the Mounties led 80-78 with a minute to play when
Darryl Sanders hit a shot from behind the arc. The Spartans responded with a three-point shot of their own with 48 seconds remaining. On their next possession, Mount Aloysius had three shots to take the lead but none fell. D'Youville then hit two free throws with four seconds to go before Brown's final shot missed.
Sanders paced the Mounties with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Troy Williams scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds, and
Brian Reams had his best game of the season to date with 20 points on the strength of a 6-for-9 showing from behind the three-point arc.
Chad Eisenhuth added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for Mount Aloysius.
The Mounties drop to 3-7 in conference play and will host Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.
