Women's Basketball Races Past Spartans

Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team won their second straight game on Saturday afternoon as the Mounties raced past host D'Youville by a final score of 84-47.

Mount Aloysius opened up a 22-12 lead after one quarter and increased the lead to 38-22 on a Alexia Servello layup with 1:26 remaining in the second quarter on their way to a commanding 38-24 advantage at the half. The Mounties continued to dominate and went on a 22-0 run during the third quarter that was capped by a three-point shot from Breana Kendrick with 2:56 to go in the period that increased the lead to 60-27. The advantage reached as high as 45 points in the final quarter as Mount Aloysius cruised to the win.

Four Mounties finished in double figures led by 17 points from Kendrick. Katie Bracken registered 15 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals, and Servello finished with 14 points. The Mounties got a strong showing from their bench as Kara Cordell notched 10 points, and Abby Kulick contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

The Mounties forced 29 D'Youville turnovers and limited the Spartans to 14-for-51 (27.5 percent) shooting for the ballgame.

Mount Aloysius improves to 4-6 in conference play and will host Pitt-Greensburg in an important AMCC matchup on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
