Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fought back from a 15-point deficit with just over six minutes remaining before a
David Swatsworth three-point shot fell just short in a 67-65 loss to La Roche on Wednesday evening in AMCC action.
With 6:24 remaining in the ballgame, the Mounties were down 65-50. The home side then scored 15 consecutive points over a five and a half minute period to tie the ballgame at 65-65. The run was capped by a
Darryl Sanders three-point shot from the top of the key with 1:03 remaining. The Redhawks finally scored a needed basket with 38 seconds left to take the lead. After Mount Aloysius missed a chance to take the lead on another Sanders three-point attempt, the Mounties forced a turnover with five seconds left. Swatsworth then took a pass but his shot from behind the arc hit the front of the rim as time expired.
Sanders paced the Mountie effort with a strong showing down the stretch to finish with 20 points along with five rebounds.
Tre Brown ended the game with 10 points, five assists and three steals, and
Chad Eisenhuth scored nine points off the bench.
Mount Aloysius falls to 2-3 in conference action. They will return to the court Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup at Medaille.
