Bradford, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team couldn't recover from a 10-point halftime deficit and fell by a final score of 82-73 to host Pitt-Bradford in conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Julian Stover scored 19 points off the bench for the Mounties on the strength of a 11-for-15 showing at the free throw line. He added four rebounds and two steals.
Troy Williams scored 12 points, while
Ramel Stephens,
Azim Hutson,
Tommy Pisula and
Josiah Jones added eight points apiece. Jones grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The Mounties led 14-10 six minutes into the contest before Pitt-Bradford took control to lead 28-22 with 6:27 to go in the opening half. Mount Aloysius trailed 29-26 before the Panthers went on a 14-7 run to close the half to lead 43-33 at the break. In the second half, the Mounties cut the deficit to five points on a number of occasions including with four minutes remaining when Stephens hit two free throws to make it 69-65 in favor of Bradford. However, the Mounties wouldn't get any closer in the final minutes of action.Â
Pitt-Bradford held a strong advantage from behind the three-point arc as the Panthers shot 13-for-26 from behind the three-point line while the Mounties shot 4-for-13 from distance.
The Mounties will return to action Monday with a non-conference matchup at home against Stevenson University.
