Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team won their conference opener in emphatic fashion with a 81-49 victory over host D'Youville on Saturday afternoon.
Alexia Servello scored 18 points and
Katie Bracken added 16 points for the Mounties.
Abby Kulick provided a great all-around performance with 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals, while
Jessa Wright contributed 13 points for Mount Aloysius.
After a tight first quarter that saw the Mounties take a 17-16 lead, the visitors exploded for a 22-4 run over the final seven minutes of the second quarter that was capped by a
Rachel Robinson three-point play to give the Mounties a 45-27 advantage at the halftime break. The Mountie lead hovered around 20 points throughout the third quarter. Mount Aloysius then expanded the advantage to 79-49 with just over three minutes remaining on a Bracken layup as the Mounties eased to the victory.
The Mounties shot 9-for-20 (45 percent) from behind the three-point arc and forced 24 Spartan turnovers for the ballgame.
Mount Aloysius improves to 3-2 overall and will return to the court with a home matchup against Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.
