Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fell by a final score of 85-64 on Saturday afternoon to visiting John Jay College.
The Mounties had a strong first half and entered the break ahead by a margin of 38-33, but couldn't sustain the lead as the visitors went on an early second half run and eventually took a 61-46 advantage with 11:38 remaining in the ballgame. The Mounties cut the deficit to nine points on a layup from
David Swatsworth with 8:53 to go that made it 64-55. However, Mount Aloysius wasn't able to climb back into the game as John Jay expanded their lead down the stretch on their way to the non-conference victory.
Josiah Jones scored 20 points to lead the Mounties offensively while adding six rebounds. Swatsworth scored 14 points off the bench along with five boards, and
Julian Stover contributed 11 points and seven assists.
The loss drops the Mounties to 1-9 overall. They will return to the court for conference play on Wednesday with a road matchup at La Roche College at 6 p.m.
