Redhawks Stymie Mounties in AMCC Action

Pittsburgh, PA - Host La Roche held the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team to 33.3 percent shooting from the field as the Redhawks took a 78-44 conference victory over the Mounties on Wednesday evening.

The Mounties took a 5-0 lead two minutes into the game highlighted by a three-point shot from Darryl Sanders, but La Roche responded with the next 13 points over the next four minutes to take a 13-5 advantage. The Redhawks increased their lead to 22-7 with 11:29 to go in the first half, and the home side continued to stymie the Mounties on the defensive end while taking a 43-17 lead into halftime. Mount Aloysius scored the opening points of the second half, but the visitors wouldn't get any closer as the Redhawks raced away with the victory.

Sanders and Brennan Garner each scored 10 points to lead Mount Aloysius, and Nick Burk notched seven rebounds. Chad Eisenhuth, Ryan Streets and Trent McErlane each dished three assists.

The Mounties were hurt by 29 turnovers, while the Redhawks committed 14 turnovers. 

Mount Aloysius returns to the court this Saturday with a 3 p.m. tipoff at Pitt-Bradford.
