Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team was defeated by visiting Medaille College by a final score of 107-79 on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.
Darryl Sanders and
Brian Reams each scored 18 points to lead the Mounties offensively. Sanders went 4-for-6 from three-point range, while Reams shot 5-for-9 from behind the arc. The Mounties shot well from distance throughout the game as they connected on 14 of 31 (45.2 percent) three-point attempts.
Chad Eisenhuth scored 10 points and added five assists and three steals, while
Troy Williams recorded eight points and six boards.
The Mounties were guilty of 26 turnovers on the offensive end, and had a tough time slowing down a potent Medaille attack as the Mavericks connected on 14 of 21 three-point attempts and shot 55.1 percent overall for the ballgame.
Medaille jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the game's opening moments and pushed their advantage to 34-14 with 9:19 remaining in the opening half. The Mounties fought back and decreased the lead to 55-41 by halftime after Williams made a layup for the last points of the half with 43 seconds to go.
Mount Aloysius continued their strong play to open the second half as a layup from Sanders with 17:20 left in the ballgame cut the lead to single digits at 57-48. Medaille responded and pushed their lead back to 16 points within three minutes, and the Mounties wouldn't get any closer throughout the second half.
The Mounties will return to the court on Wednesday with a home matchup at 8 p.m. against Franciscan.
