Lions Pull Away from Mounties

Altoona, PA - Host Penn State Altoona pulled away from the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team in the second half to secure a 96-79 victory on Wednesday evening in AMCC action.

Nick Burk led a group of four Mounties in double figures with 17 points while adding 10 rebounds in a double-double effort and three steals. Troy Williams scored 15 points and added nine rebounds. Chad Eisenhuth scored 13 points on the strength of a 8-for-10 showing at the free throw line and contributed six assists, while Ryan Streets added 13 points and four assists. 

Mount Aloysius jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of the game highlighted by a pair of three-point shots from Streets. Altoona responded with a 17-7 run over the next five-plus minutes to tie the game at 17-17 with 11:12 to go in the first half. The game was a back-and-forth affair as the Lions took a slight 33-30 lead into halftime. 

The Lions increased their lead to 55-46 eight minutes into the second half, and continued to hold a lead hovering around double digits for the remainder of the second half. Altoona held a 74-65 advantage with 5:23 to go after Tre Brown cut the lead to single digits with a three-point shot. However, the Mounties wouldn't get any closer as the Lions expanded their lead in the closing minutes. 

The Mounties will return to the court on Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup at home against Medaille.
