Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius College baseball team was defeated by a final score of 11-2 on Monday afternoon in a non-conference matchup against visiting Penn College.
The Mounties got off to a great start as
Robert Hernandez retired the Penn College side in order in the top of the first, and the home team hit the scoreboard fist when
Matthew McCourt blasted his 11th home run of the season with a two-run shot to hand Mount Aloysius the early advantage. The visitors would respond with three runs in their next at-bat, and the game remained 3-2 in favor of Penn College after three innings of play before the Wildcats added three runs in the fourth and another one in the fifth to take a 7-2 advantage. The Wildcats went on to score the final four runs of the ballgame to earn the victory.
Andrew Pasko went 2-for-2 and
Daniel Singer went 2-for-4 to lead the Mounties offensively as they registered nine hits on the day. Hernandez was handed the loss after allowing eight hits and six earned runs in five innings on the mound.
The Mounties will return to the field on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader at home against Juniata.Â
