Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Cresson, PA - In a two-game set filled with offense throughout, the Mount Aloysius baseball team split a doubleheader with visiting Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday afternoon. The Mounties took game one by a final of 9-8 before falling in game two by a final score of 20-11.

In game one, the Bobcats built a 4-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Mounties responded with five runs in their at-bat on six hits. With runners on first and third, Anthony Rocco put the Mounties on the board with a single that brought in two runs following a Greensburg error. Rocco then scored on a Chase Miller RBI double, and Miller came around to tie the game at 4-4 when Jordan Campano laced a double into the gap before being thrown out at third base. Mount Aloysius took the lead two batters later when Vincent Jacob lasered a home run over the fence in right-center field.

Mount Aloysius held their 5-4 lead until the top of the sixth inning when the Bobcats scored four runs to take an 8-5 advantage. The Mounties rallied once again with three runs in the bottom of the frame highlighted by a Matthew McCourt triple with the bases loaded that cleared the bases. After Rodney Patterson held Greensburg scoreless in the top of the seventh, Mount Aloysius loaded the bases with zero outs in the bottom of the seventh. A fielder's choice gave Greensburg one out, but Jacob then laid down a bunt that scored Miller to win the ballgame for the home side.

Rocco went 3-for-4 in game one with two RBIs and one run scored, while Miller had a 2-for-4 showing at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.

Pitt-Greensburg put up 10 runs in their first at-bat of game two to seize control early on. The Mounties battled back to make it a 11-6 scoreline after two innings before the Bobcats expanded their lead to 16-7 at the end of four and a half innings of play. In the bottom of the fifth, Mount Aloysius narrowed the gap to 16-11 highlighted by a grand slam home run from Patrick Jobes. However, the Mounties were held scoreless for the remainder of the game as Greensburg earned the win.

Mount Aloysius recorded 15 hits in game two led by a 4-for-5 performance from Campano, which included a solo home run in the third inning. TJ Wardwell, Kyle Droz, McCourt and Rocco added two hits each.

The Mounties move to 5-7 in conference play and 11-21 overall for the season. The team will return to action on Saturday with a conference doubleheader at Pitt-Bradford set to begin at 1 p.m.
