Grantham, PA - The Mount Aloysius baseball team dropped a non-conference contest by a final score of 10-4 on Monday afternoon to host Messiah College. 

The Mounties scored a run in their opening at-bat after Kyle Droz singled up the middle to score TJ Wardwell. The host Falcons responded with a four-run showing in the bottom of the first before Mount Aloysius recorded two runs in the top of the third inning highlighted by an RBI single courtesy of Dalton Garlock. Garlock then came around to score on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Falcons responded with one run in the bottom of the inning to increase the lead to 5-3. 

The game remained 5-3 until Messiah registered four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to increase their advantage to 9-3. After the Falcons notched one more run in the seventh, the Mounties managed one more run in their final at-bat when Jared Elliot scored following a Messiah error. 

Garlock led the Mounties with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate, while Robert Hernandez was handed the loss after allowing six earned runs in 5 and 1/3 innings on the hill. Scott Schultz threw a scoreless inning in relief.

The Mounties will return to the field on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader at Frostburg State set to begin at 2 p.m.
