MAC Volleyball Opens with Solid Weekend

Scranton, PA - The Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team had a solid opening weekend at the University of Scranton Invitational. On Friday, September 1st the Lady Mounties dropped two matches. They first they lost to Salve Regina 3-0 and then to the host team University of Scranton by a 3-0 margin. The Mounties battled back on Saturday, September 2nd and won both of their matches. They defeated the College of St. Elizabeth 3-0 and New Jersey City College by a final margin of 3-1.

Sarah Fisher led the weekend offensively with 31 kills and 2.38 kills per set for the weekend. Jessica Bressler was also strong in her play with 22 kills and 30 assists. Emma Pevarnik had 52 assists and 10 serving aces, while Machala Gibbons led the defense with 41 total digs.

The Lady Mounties are on the road again next weekend when they play Thursday, September 7th at Shenandoah University and then on September 8th and 9th at a tournament at Oberlin College.
