Hamburg, NY - In a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell by a final score of 75-68 on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.
The two sides had an even first quarter and were tied 14-14 at the end of the period. With the game tied 19-19 in the second quarter, the Mounties went on a 10-1 run capped by a layup from
Abby Kulick to give the visitors a 29-20 advantage with 2:36 remaining in the half.
After taking a five-point lead into halftime, the Mounties led 46-38 when
Katelyn Parisi drained a three-point shot with 5:21 to go in the third quarter. Hilbert responded with a 13-5 run to end the quarter and the game was tied 51-51 heading into the final quarter. Mount Aloysius once again regained the lead and took a 62-57 advantage with six minutes left in the game after
Alexia Servello hit two free throws. The Hawks once again came back and led 68-67 with 2:23 on the clock, before
Rachel Robinson hit 1-for-2 at the line to tie the game at 68-68. However, the Mounties went scoreless in the final 1:54 of the game and were handed the conference loss.
Breana Kendrick scored 20 points to lead the Mounties, and Servello added 14 points and four assists.
Jessa Wright finished in double figures with 10 points and Parisi scored nine points off the Mountie bench.
The Mounties suffer their first conference loss and now stand at 9-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play. They will return to the court on Wednesday as they will host Franciscan at 8 p.m.
