Cresson, PA - The Moun Aloysius men's basketball team won their second straight game as the Mounties defeated visiting D'Youville College by a final score of 84-75 on Saturday afternoon in conference action.
Mount Aloysius played strong on the defensive end to start Saturday's ballgame and led 21-11 after
Julian Stover hit a three-point shot with 7:35 to go in the opening half. The Mounties would go on to take a 33-26 lead into halftime after
Josiah Jones hit two free throws to close the first-half scoring with 46 seconds remaining. In the second half, the Mounties increased their lead to 13 points at 55-42 with nine minutes on the clock after
Shaire Tolson-Ford grabbed an offensive rebound and put in a layp. The visiting Spartans cut the deficit to five points with six minutes left in the ballgame, but Mount Aloysius quickly increased the lead back to double digits on their way to the win.
Stover scored 19 points and shot 7-for-9 from the free throw line while Jones added 18 points and shot 10-for-10 from the line.
Tommy Pisula scored 18 points and added eight rebounds, while Tolson-Ford scored 16 points and notched five steals off the bench for the Mounties.
The Mounties shot 28-for-34 (82.4 percent) for the game from the free throw line. The teams were even with 33 rebounds apiece while the Mounties committed 12 turnovers compared to 16 for the Spartans.
The Mounties improve to 3-7 in conference play and will return to the court on Monday evening for a non-conference matchup at McDaniel College at 7:30 p.m
