Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team cut a double-digit lead to five points with 5:16 remaining in the ballgame but weren't able to get over the hump in a 60-51 loss to visiting La Roche College in an AMCC matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Mounties trailed by 14 with 12:18 left in the game but stormed back with a with a 16-7 run over the next seven minutes.
Josiah Jones drained a three-point shot with 5:16 to go to make it 50-45. La Roche increased the lead back to nine points, and Mount Aloysius wasn't able to cut the deficit any further down the stretch.Â
Julian Stover scored 25 points on a 5-for-10 showing from behind the arc to lead the Mounties offensively. He added three assists, while
David Swatsworth scored seven points and recorded two steals off the bench.
Tommy Pisula led the rebounding department with six boards and
Troy Williams notched five rebounds.Â
The Mounties shot 16-for-55 (29.1 percent) from the field while the Redhawks shot 25-for-55 (45.5 percent).
Mount Aloysius returns to the court Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff at home against Pitt-Bradford.Â
