Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team led from start to finish as the Mounties defeated visiting La Roche College by a final score of 83-76 on Wednesday evening in AMCC action.
The Mounties built a 19-13 advantage after one quarter and held a steady lead through the remainder of the first half to take a 37-30 lead into halftime after
Alexia Servello hit two free throws with one second left in the half. Mount Aloysius expanded its advantage to 15 points midway through the third quarter, and the lead increased to 57-40 after
Jessa Wright hit a three-point attempt with 3:19 to go in the third quarter. In the final quarter, the Mounties led by double digits until the late going when the Redhawks cut the gap to 83-74 with less than a minute to play. However, the Mounties were in control and registered the important conference victory.
Jessa Wright scored 26 points on the strength of a 6-for-10 showing from behind the arc while adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Alexia Servello scored 15 points along with dishing four assists, and
Kara Cordell shot 6-for-9 for 13 points.
Katie Bracken scored nine points off the bench while
Breana Kendrick recorded five assists for the Mounties.
The Mounties forced 18 Redhawk turnovers while committing just nine turnovers on the offensive end.
Mount Aloysius improves to 13-5 overall and 11-2 in conference play. They will host Pitt-Bradford on Saturday at 3 p.m.Â
