Mountie Women Win 3-0 on Senior Day

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius Women's soccer team defeated Hilbert College 3-0 on Saturday. Before the action started, the Mounties took a few moments to recognize their 7 graduating seniors. Those seniors were goalkeeper Leanne Cardoso-Bastos, defenders Amanda Brancato and Amanda Schneider, midfielders Jordan Gebhart and Harpreet Heer and attackers Cheyenne Kuncher and Sara Testa

All of the seniors started the game for the Mounties as they dominated much of the possession in the game. They were able to amass 36 shots with 13 of them finishing on frame. They were also able to win 23 corner kicks in the match. Although they were unable to break through in the first half, the Mounties were able to put three goals in during the final half.

Senior Cheyenne Kuncher started the scoring in the 52nd minute. Fellow senior Jordan Gebhart played a long ball over the defensive line. Kuncher was able to run onto the ball and put a one touch finish underneath the onrushing goalkeeper. The goal was Kuncher's team leading 9th of the year. The Mountie's second goal was also finished off by a senior. Sara Testa was able to win a header off of a corner kick in the 65th minute. Her header went back across the frame to the far post and into the side netting. It was Testa's second goal of the season. Leah Frerichs finished off the scoring 10 minutes later. She took a free kick from about 30 yards out on th right flank. Her long looping shot went over the goalkeepers head and into the net for her second of the season.

The defense led by Brancato held the opponents to only 4 shots in the match with 1 finishing on frame. Bastos made the sole save in goal en route to her 13th career shutout.
