Greensburg, PA-Â The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team braved tough field conditions to defeat Pitt- Greensburg on the road Tuesday, by a score of 1-0.
The Mountie defense led by
Leah Frerichs and
Summer Schell were able to keep the Bobcats to 8 shots, with only 2 on goal. They were able to defend nine corner kicks in the defensive effort. Freshman Goalkeeper
Lauren Davey made 2 saves in the shutout. The shutout was Davey's league leading 6th of the season, as well as her 10th win.
The lone Mountie goal came courtesy of a
Jordan Gebhart breakaway. Freshman
Kourtney Walls played a pass behind the defense that Gebhart was able to collect, and slide past the goalkeepers left side. It was Gebhart's 5th goal of the season, and her 3rd game winner of the year. Freshman
Cayla Aquino also put in a strong effort from the midfield, as she registered two shots, both of them on goal.
The Mounties (11-0-2) are ranked 10th in the United Soccer Coaches poll for the Great Lakes Region. They will travel to Buffalo over the weekend to take on D'Youville College. The game has been tabbed by the AMCC as the Conference Game of the Week.
