Mounties Roll Past Barons for Conference Win

Steubenville, OH - Led by 31 points from Jessa Wright, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team defeated host Franciscan University by a final score of 77-49 on Wednesday evening in conference action.

Wright continued her strong play as she shot 12-for-19 from the field and 5-for-9 from three-point range. She added eight rebounds and four steals. Alexia Servello also finished in double figures with 13 points, and Abby Kulick added eight points and six rebounds. Breana Kendrick notched seven points and three assists.

The Mounties jumped out to a 19-5 lead and led 23-14 after one quarter of play. Mount Aloysius led 36-21 with three minutes to go in the first half after Lea Sammarco drained a three-point shot, and the lead reached 19 at 40-21 when Servello hit two free throws. The Mounties led comfortably throughout the second half as the advantage expanded to as much as 31 points. 

Mount Aloysius improves to 14-3 in conference play as the Mounties set a new program record for conference wins in a season. The Mounties have earned a top-2 seed and first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament that begins next week.

The Mounties will conclude their regular season with a showdown at 3 p.m. at home on Saturday against Hilbert College, the only team above Mount Aloysius in the conference standings. With a win, the Mounties will share the regular season championship with the Hawks.
